Try Resilient for a change!
A weekly Bible study on addiction
(Edouard Louis Dubufe: Surmon de Jesus Christ sur la Montagne)
Repent and Believe
Jesus preached a simple message to sinners: Repent and believe in the gospel
(Rembrandt van Rijn: Return of the Prodigal Son)
But, when change doesn’t happen
When change doesn’t come easily, we often switch that message to: Repent and Repent Harder!
(Johannes Moreelse: The Repentance of Saint Peter)
Repent more!
We say: “If I really loved God, I would change.” And we double down on getting strict with ourselves—trying to force change to happen.
(Francisco Goya: Saint Jerome in Repentance)
And More!
But shame, pain, and pressure to change don’t work. A self-imposed penalty box doesn’t bring about change; it just keeps the focus on us rather than on Jesus.
